iFlytek presents AI glasses weighing only 40 grams with its own voice agent
Chinese AI specialist iFlytek unveiled its latest generation of smart glasses at the BEYOND Expo 2026 in Macau. Weighing just 40 grams and featuring an integrated AI agent called GlassClaw, the company is targeting the growing market for wearable artificial intelligence.

Eye Technology: What Glasses Can Do
The new iFlytek glasses combine multiple technologies in a compact format. At its core is the GlassClaw AI agent, which functions as a personal assistant and processes voice inputs in real-time. Advanced noise detection, which is designed to capture precise voice commands even in loud environments, was particularly highlighted. Lin Huijie, General Manager of the Wearable division at iFlytek, presented the device with the motto „Communication without limits, the world before your eyes.“ The company from Hefei in Anhui province is considered one of the leading providers of speech recognition technology in China and has been working on miniaturizing its systems for years.
China's Wearable Offensive: A New Market is Emerging
With this product, iFlytek joins a growing number of Chinese companies aiming to conquer the market for AI-powered wearables. In addition to established players like Huawei and Xiaomi, specialized AI firms are increasingly entering this segment. According to industry analysts, the global smart glasses market is expected to grow to over 30 billion US dollars by 2028. Chinese manufacturers benefit from their strength in mass production and lower manufacturing costs. For Austrian consumers, this could mean more affordable alternatives to Western products in the medium term.
European Perspective: Opportunities and Concerns
It remains unclear if and when iFlytek glasses will be available in Europe. For a launch in the EU, the company would have to meet strict data protection requirements. Voice assistants that permanently process audio data are caught between user convenience and privacy. iFlytek itself has been criticized in the past for its ties to state surveillance projects and was added to a US sanctions list in 2019. At the same time, the technology offers potential for applications in areas such as translation, accessibility, and professional communication.
The Two Sides of Power
IFlytek's new smart glasses demonstrate China's growing expertise in miniaturized AI hardware. The 40-gram device shows that Chinese companies can keep pace technologically with Western competitors. However, success in international markets depends on more than just specifications. European consumers and regulators will scrutinize how the collected data is handled. For Austrian companies in the optics and electronics industry, the question also arises as to whether cooperation opportunities will emerge here or if another market will be lost to Asian competitors.
