Und Europa schaut weg.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wien, 7. April 2026 &#8211; Bei den j\u00fcngsten Schiffsungl\u00fccken im Mittelmeer sind mehr als 180 Menschen ums Leben gekommen beziehungsweise gelten als vermisst. Damit steigt die Gesamtzahl der Opfer im Jahr 2026 auf nahezu 1.000 &#8211; und das erst im April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Die Zahlen sind nicht neu. Das Mittelmeer t\u00f6tet seit Jahren. Aber allein im zentralen Mittelmeer sind in diesem Jahr etwa 765 Menschen gestorben &#8211; rund 460 mehr als im gleichen Zeitraum des Vorjahres, was einem Anstieg von \u00fcber 150 Prozent entspricht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Warum sterben mehr Menschen?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Der Iran-Krieg hat neue Fluchtbewegungen ausgel\u00f6st. Menschen aus dem Nahen Osten, aus Zentralasien, aus Ostafrika \u2014 sie alle versuchen den Weg nach Europa. Schleuser verdienen Milliarden. Europa debattiert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201eDiese Trag\u00f6dien zeigen einmal mehr, dass zu viele Menschen weiterhin ihr Leben auf gef\u00e4hrlichen Routen riskieren&#8220;, sagte die Generaldirektorin der IOM, Amy Pope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u00d6sterreich und die Verantwortung<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00d6sterreich ist kein Mittelmeerland &#8211; aber es ist Teil Europas. Und Europa tr\u00e4gt Mitverantwortung. Die Frage ist nicht nur humanit\u00e4r. Sie ist auch politisch: Wer profitiert vom Chaos? Wer finanziert die Schleuser? Wer schaut weg?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Two Sides of Power<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fast 1.000 Tote in drei Monaten. Das ist kein Naturereignis &#8211; das ist politisches Versagen. Europas Migrations- und Au\u00dfenpolitik produziert Tote.
