The launch marks another step forward for China in the global race for AI-powered mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical Specifications and Performance Leap<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">XPENG offers TuringViT in two versions: TuringViT-18L and TuringViT-24L. At a resolution of 1536\u00d71536 pixels, the 18L version achieves 3.04 times the throughput compared to the competing model, Seed1.5-ViT, and 2.16times the throughput of SigLIP2-ViT-L. These figures point to significant efficiency gains, which are crucial for resource-intensive applications such as real-time image processing in vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vision encoder is at the heart of modern vision-language models, which combine visual information with language understanding. In the context of autonomous driving systems, this enables a more precise interpretation of complex traffic situations, ranging from pedestrians to ambiguous road signs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Electric Cars to Humanoid Robots<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Particularly noteworthy is the dual strategy: XPENG is developing TuringViT not only for its vehicle fleet but also for the IRON robotics program. Humanoid robots are considered the next major growth market in the technology industry. Tesla, Boston Dynamics, and Chinese competitors such as Unitree are already engaged in intense competition to bring market-ready products to market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">XPENG is thus positioning itself as a technology company with ambitions that extend far beyond the automotive sector. Founder He Xiaopeng has repeatedly emphasized that the boundaries between smart mobility and robotics are becoming increasingly blurred. The shared technological foundation\u2014ranging from sensors to AI chips to vision encoders\u2014makes this convergence economically attractive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Global AI Competition Heats Up<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This announcement comes amid tightened U.S. export controls targeting China\u2019s semiconductor industry. While U.S. sanctions are making it more difficult to access high-end chips, Chinese companies are investing heavily in their own solutions. XPENG operates its own AI research centers and has expanded its chip design team to over 500 engineers by 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For our automotive suppliers and technology companies, this development signals two things: First, the technological focus in the automotive industry is continuing to shift toward software and AI\u2014areas in which Chinese providers are catching up or are already leading the way. Second, companies with manufacturing facilities in China could benefit from the local availability of such technologies, while technology transfer to Europe is becoming more complicated due to geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Austrian suppliers such as AVL List and TTTech Auto, which are active in the field of autonomous driving systems, are increasingly competing with vertically integrated Chinese players.
