Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has sharply rebuked the US ambassador for his accusations of antisemitism. The background is a Belgian debate about religious circumcision practices. The government in Brussels has been considering stricter rules for the procedure on minors for months. Jewish and Muslim communities see this as an attack on their religious freedom. The American diplomat sided with them and resorted to verbal attacks.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De Wever sets clear boundaries<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Belgian Prime Minister did not leave the attack unanswered. The ambassadors are acting less as diplomatic representatives and more as political activists. Discontent is growing in Brussels over the American style. Other EU states are watching the Belgian resistance with interest.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Two Sides of Power<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The dispute reveals the fault lines in the transatlantic relationship.
