With the resignation of Democratic Representative Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick from Florida, a third member of the U.S. House of Representatives has resigned within just eight days. Serious ethical violations are the underlying cause in all three cases \u2013 a finding that is being watched with growing concern in Europe.<\/p>\n
Cherfilus-McCormick announced her immediate resignation just hours before a scheduled disciplinary hearing by the House Ethics Committee. The panel had been considering potential sanctions over a series of campaign finance violations.
